Just about, everyone enjoys music videos in today's world. However, some music videos are simply too racy for young teens. These images are not appropriate for this age group.

As our television, programs now have been given ratings, just as movies in theaters have had for years many might wonder if music videos should also have this same rating system. There are some music videos that simply show the performers singing the song and benign images, perhaps of backup singers and an attractive natural background behind the music group. Other music videos are very provocative.

A recent music video by a popular singer featured this singer in many skimpy outfits, running her hands slowly over her body. In some of the video's shots, she had water being poured over her body or appeared in the ocean dripping wet in these skimpy outfits. Other video shots showed this performer dancing, shaking her hips and wriggling suggestively to her song. Many could easily agree that this type of video is inappropriate for a thirteen year old to view.

There are those that would argue that young teens could easily see these images in other ways: on television, in magazines and in popular movies. They are indeed correct, that young teens can see these images in each of these places. Parents also have the ability to monitor their young teens in each of these places. Music videos are simply another area of concern, as your children become young teens. Music becomes something that is more and more popular as they become older. The type of music they listen to and those videos leave an impression on them. Parents need to decide exactly what impression they want their young teens to receive.

Some might think it would be difficult to monitor the music videos their teenagers watch. This is quite true, as most of the channels that show music videos show them in random order. You never know exactly which music video would be coming up next. While some teenagers might listen to the parental command of "don't watch racy videos," others would watch them out of prurient interest simply because their parents told them not to watch them. Sometimes being told not to do something makes it all the more appealing to do it.

While young teenagers are growing and they do have the right to make some decisions on their own, a parent should still assist them in making some decisions. Some parents might choose to entirely block music channels. Other parents might consider choosing to let their teens watch music videos under their supervision. Still some other parents might permit their young teens to watch music videos once some "rules" about which videos were acceptable were created. Every family needs to create their own guidelines to best solve this challenge.

Fortunately, there are many music videos that are appropriate for teens to watch. Some of these music videos become so racy, most likely to gain the attention of fans and to sell more CDs. Perhaps also some music stars feel that they must maintain a very sexy image for their fans, that their fans expect them to create this style of video each and every time.
